DJ Colgate’s Musical career began in 1992 mixing at local parties as well as clubs. However 1995 began as the starting point to his rise as a dj.

DJ Colgate started in radio in that year, starting in the promotions department working on the street team at L.A.’s number 1 hip hop radio station Power 106, this included working station events and mixing at them.

DJ Colgate got his name from former Power 106 dj’s The Baka Boyz, I was at a promotion one day and I didn’t have  nickname somehow they came up with colgate and it stuck with me ever since.

Growing up in Paramount California, i can remember listening to Power 106 all the time and recording mixes from the station and then going to the clubs to see the dj’s mix live, I remember I used to practice everyday and saying one day I  want to do that.

After getting my foot in the door and working on the Flava Unit and deejaying on the streets, I was turning in mixes in to the Programming department for as long as I can remember, than finally one day I finally got my shot and the rest as they say is History.

In my spare time i am currently working on my Mix cd’s and currently working on my annual charity events, I definetly like to give back to the community.

Over the years DJ Colgate has continued to make a name for himself and has become one of California’s hottest mixers. He has deejayed at numerous industry events and is making his mark in the Television world for deejaying for celebrities from Viacom which has several stations from MTV, Spike, Nickelodeon, BET, and more. Also in May of 2011, DJ Colgate also deejayed for President Obama while he was in L.A. at Sony Studios which was also broadcasted on TV and covered by numerous media outlets and featured many special guest.

DJ Colgate is a mainstay in the L.A. urban music scene and a trendsetter his sets include everything from Hip Hop, Rock, House/Electro, Reggae, R&B. His diversity is what continues to make him popular. He has deejayed clubs all over California, Arizona, and Mexico and has deejayed & been Sponsored by Nike, Adidas, and has deejayed for celebrities like Fernando Vargas, Black Eyed Peas, E-40, Bill Gates, Wyclef,Glasses Malone, and much more. Whats left for DJ Colgate? Expect more mix cd’s,  music production, and continuing to rock clubs all over the world!

The Pre Game Speech

Friday is here again, and its time to take what we’ve learned and earned into the weekend. Today we want to break down some new music madness. It’s been a goal of ours here at Team4orce of recent time, to make sure we give our readership quality over quantity. As you might have noticed this past week we posted up a fresh blog, Monday, Wednesday and Friday only this week. We most likely will go back to the five days a week format, but we want to make sure we really give you guys the price of admission.

Another goal in our Team quality control was to refocus ourselves and work the game plan of delivering the true Team4orce Lifestyle; health & fitness, nutrition, art, music and just about anything else we are digging at the moment. We want to make sure we really let you know what the Team4orce Program is all about! So we will no longer sugar coat it, or hold back because we don’t want to go over folks heads, we are tastemakers and movers and shakers, and most importantly, we are the team that will always come through in the clutch for you.

The Pre Game Introduction

Eastern Conference and Western Conference readers, please put your hands together for Jayvon. I (Coach Mike/DJ Argyle) was introduced (an internet introduction that is) to this modern day musical mad man by way of a great friend and musical connoisseur, Mr. Roger Jao . Please check Rogers site for more info on his handpicked DJ Mix Projects. Now Jayvon, what can I say, dudes mix this time around is mature in musical selection. The tracks are the modern sounds of drums with a little swagger in their basslines and mid tempo wobble. Music that many of you may not have heard, but this is what the Team4orce Lifestyle is all about, bringing you the best of our world. Check the play list, download and stretch to it, sweat to it, or just relax and enjoy.

This Friday we’d like to take it back to the music element, and introduce everyone to a “friend of the program”, that happens to hold it down on the decks like no other.

DJ Colgate was featured on Power 106’s Jump Off Mix the weekend of April 1-3 and we thought it would be fresh to give this talented homeboy some shine and give you some weekend bumps for your outdoor cardio sessions or maybe for the drive down PCH.

Rumor has it, that DJ Colgate will be making a guest appearance on the Team4orce F.I.T. (Frequency for Intense Training) monthly podcast (that we promise to deliver to you folks on a consistent basis; yes, coach Mike has dropped the baton on this one but we are back in the race) sometime this month!!!!

Words from the Coach

The pre work out drill is simple, a scoop of protein with water before we hit the road, and maybe a scoop or two of our favorite pre workout powder. We step into the gym with our shaker filled with water and some branched-chain amino acids to sip on throughout the session, then we plug in and zone out. The Team4orce squad never hits the gym without a trusty ipod, itouch or iphone tucked into a pocket, strapped to arm or on the hip, music for us is a way of life, and we share this passion with you through our Team4orce Lifestyle.

Today, we like to help you dig a little deeper, allow you to broaden your horizons, embrace a sophisticated look at the vast amounts of music that are at your disposal. We are going to hip you to some of our favorite digital dig outlets, where you can support artists and djs from around the globe, by downloading their tracks and mixes for a small fee.

So get up for the digital down stroke (or download) get hip to what’s on your favorite djs top 10 lists for the month, step your up-front promo game up and open those ears to some music.

Team4orce was born on the west coast, we call the left coast our home and our home field advantage lies in Los Angeles, just North of a the LBC, made famous by a subculture that was led by rap music. Lyrically heavy tracks with stories of the streets of L.A. and the Strong Beach are were Warren G, Snoop and The whole Dog Pound found a niche that grew into a movement. One might say that this movement really became a sound, a sound that was part G-Funk and part Rap, and what made the sound so distinct was its voice.

On the West Coast, no one did it better and no one will ever do it better then the melodic-pop-pimp-cushed-out-smokey-gangsta-pipes of Nathaniel Hale, know to the world as Nate Dogg. What you might not know is that Nate started singing as a child in the New Hope Trinity Baptist Church choir where his father, Daniel Lee Hale, was pastor at the time. At the age of 16 he dropped out of high school in Long Beach, California and left home to join the United States Marine Corps where he served for 3 years. The rest, well that is an amazing success story, that will now become legend.

This West Coast don, was nothing short of an iconic figure, from his signature swagger and dress, to his signature god given talent that flossed on hit singles and platinum records. His voice transcended the background and made being the featured artist on a hook for a single the thing to be. Like the West Side Connection said in Gangsta Nation, “It ain’t a hit till Nate Dogg spit.” Since his first appearance on Dr. Dre’s The Chronic in 1992 and the first hit singe he produced, Regulate with Warren G (go ahead and sing it), Nate Dogg has collaborated in over 60 chart singles that we all sing along to in the car, at work, in the club or at the backyard bbq.

Thank you for the amazing music

Rest In Peace Big Homie
