The Pre Game Speech
Team4orce definitely believes in balance, on the field of play, in the weight room, in the box, outdoors or inside on the mat. Even more important, is the balance in our lives, as this equilibrium strikes the right chord that harmonizes our own personal orchestra, the mind-body-spirit-connection.
If you eat healthy, but are always stressed out, no balance, no good! If you run miles and miles, and get no rest or relaxation, and eat horribly, no balance, no good! If you exercise at the gym or train for a sport, but have no time to exercise your mind, no balance, no good! You get the idea ladies and gentlemen? You’re going to be burnt out and have very little progress and most likely some set backs.
There is an Indian belief that everyone is a house of four rooms: a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual room. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete.
–Rumer Godden–House of Four Rooms
So skip the intense stress sessions for the holidays, enjoy life, get those good habits going now, and make it happen! Don’t use the month of December to stretch and prep for the old New Year’s Resolution, get it going now!!! Lets head to the film room and get motivated.

From the Balconi Blog
As we reach the Holiday season, our plates seem to fill up with tons of appointments, plans and loose ends that must be completed before the end of the year. Whether it be business decisions that will determine the faith of the business in 2012, or personal relationship decisions that will define you as a person for 2012, or it’s the travel and holiday details that must be set by the end of this week and fit smoothly with all other family members. We could go on and on, listing the stress’s and outside factors that have overloaded our plates this time of year. So, we are here to help you focus and go into solution mode, not into panic attack and break down mode.
Establish a goal for today. Wake up in the AM and make a list of what you need to accomplish today. Make a realistic list on PAPER, yes paper. There is something satisfying about actually “checking” off what you have completed. This feeling of satisfaction will keep you rolling onto the next task, ultimately leading you to your final goal that you wish to accomplish that day.
Establish a goal for that week. Take 10 minutes during your weekend and make a brief list of what needs to be accomplished this week. Start Monday morning with a “map-quest” of task will ease the stress of organizing the clutter of what all has to get done. Now, does this mean your path won’t have road blocks, absolutely not. The key is to work around and through these road blocks but never loose sight of your goal, eventually you must shift back onto the path. Drift but don’t loose control.
Establish the goals for the year. Where do you want to be personally and professionally by 2012. Do your research, make the initial contacts now, set the meetings for the next step and be ahead of the first minute of 2012. You plan for your happiness and success, don’t let the outside distractions take you away from accomplishing your goals. This is your life, define and make a list…..and start checking off the list today, there’s never going to be the perfect time.

The Pre Game Breakdown
Last week, while doing some cardio, and obviously not high intensity cardio (H.I.T.), since I was able to pay attention to the program that was on long enough to gain an interest. I think it caught my attention because we have decided to do some realignment of Team4orce, some trades before the trade deadline (baseball hot stove trade talk).
Okay, now back on the farm/step mill, the show was called the Real Winning Edge and the shows mission and objective was to reach out to the youth by highlighting the youth. Celebrity athletes are guest host and they introduce each episodes focus, teenage winning athletes and performers who overcome real life problems.
Truly inspiring material, and we hope to highlight more of this as we move forward with this years second half of the Team4orce season.

5 Hood Burgers in 5 Days: Straight Outta LA
“Not Bad Meaning Bad, But Bad Meaning Good”
Hood Burger
[hood bur-ger]
-noun 1. A large hamburger consisting of multiple thick beef patties as well as the addition of highly caloric toppings, including but not limited to: cheese, bacon, pastrami, egg, hot links and chili.
All Fun No Play, Team4orce Says No Way!!!! We know we talk about how to eat healthy, how it’s a lifestyle and not a fade or a crash diet. We also would like to point out that we have always been a well rounded lifestyle brand, that’s what makes us tick and we promote balance through our real life experiences. Now this also goes for food and the all mighty and sometimes neglected (or abused) cheat meal.
Bad food (not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good, and you all know how the story goes…), or what us health conscientious folks call a cheat meal never goes out of style, especially if its limited to one day out of seven days. So when I stumbled upon this great article on The Los Angelicious Times, dated March 10, I still thought it needed to get some more run on our blog. Below is an exert from the article, enjoy!
The Business
The current LA burger dichotomy generally falls into two categories: the fast-food style burger with a thin, tightly-packed patty adorned with basic toppings; and the gourmet burger, featuring a larger, loosely ground patty featuring higher quality meat and more upscale ingredients. Somewhere between the two lies the mutant, bastardized world of the hood burger. If classics like Apple Pan and Pie n’ Burger are Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle, then perhaps these are more like Barry Bonds or Mark McGwire: beefed-up, highly divisive, and of questionable sanity. Hood burgers can be found in many parts of the U.S., but some of the best examples are found here in Los Angeles. After all, they don’t call it Burger Town for nothing. Here are five of the best, sampled over five days:
Day #1: Fred’s Downhome Burgers
2524 W Slauson Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90043
(323) 298-7762
$
Located in Hyde Park — one of Los Angeles’ oldest, and most harried, African-American neighborhoods — Fred’s Downhome Burgers is a simple establishment: a small concrete building surrounded by a parking lot of idling cars waiting for food.
Day #2: Fresh & Meaty Burgers
3016 W Florence Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90043
(323) 751-2247
$
Just a few minutes south of Fred’s in Inglewood is Fresh and Meaty Burgers, which sits on a picturesque hill overlooking Central LA. The day-glo decor here is slightly less spartan that most ‘hood burgers stands, though inside the small lobby a layer of inch thick bullet-proof glass separates you from the cashier; just in case you forgot where you were.
Day #3: Mom’s Burger
336 W Alondra Blvd
Compton, CA 90220
(310) 632-6622
$
Many consider Mom’s Burgers in Compton to be not only the finest hood burger in Los Angeles, but also one of the best burgers period. They might not be far off. Compared to the heft of many other hood burgers, the creations served at Mom’s are noticeably restrained. That’s not to say the burgers are petite, but they certainly are less likely to induce labored breathing and heavy belt loosening.
Day #4: B&R’s Old Fashion Burgers
3512 W Rosecrans Ave
Hawthorne, CA 90250
(310) 679-4774
$
In a city filled with strip mall gems, it seems odd that B&R is the only place on this list actually located in a strip mall. It also is one the few places to feature something resembling a dining area: a collection of mismatched chairs and tables that serves more as a waiting room for take-out than as a place to eat.
Day #5: Hawkin’s House of Burgers
11603 Slater St
Los Angeles, CA 90059
(323) 563-1129
$
As much an icon as the nearby Watts Towers, Hawkins House of Burgers is credited with being the originator, perfecter and paterfamilias of the hood burger subculture. Situated across the street from Watts’ oldest and largest housing project, Hawkin’s began as a small grocery store selling amenities and serving food to tenants.
Honorable Mentions:
Big Mike’s – Bellflower
Master Burger- Mid-City
JNJ Burger Shack – Mid-City
3 Bears BBQ – Lynwood
Burger Stand – Crenshaw

The Pre Game Analysis
Summer is here ladies and gentlemen, so what does that mean to you and us here at Team4orce headquarters? To be honest, it means absolutely nothing, other than a beautiful seasonal change in Southern California that we can take advatage of by training outdoors more often (I know, we can usually do that year-round).
The Team4orce Lifestyle is one that is locked and loaded all day every day, like Big Daddy Kane rapped, there is no half-stepping; and the change of the season doesn’t matter or shouldn’t change the game plan you’ve set for yourself.
Many times we create goals and deadlines for ourselves that are dictated by the change in weather and the season; the New Year’s resolution to lose weight, the summer goal to get the beach body all fit the bill. Now those are great in concept, but essentially what your programming your body and mind (which dictates your overall attitude and approach, consciously and subconsciously) to do, is create more of a lackadaisical and part-time approach to a full time opportunity to stay in tune with your body and enjoy life to the fullest 24/7.
The Game Plan
The Team4orce coaching staff suggests a few important points when laying out the perfect game plan for your body.
Remember to set goals based on a 365 calendar, don’t limit yourself by creating a dead end diet based on a season or occasion.
Practice the Team4orce – 4 components of; healthy eating, intense training, staying consistent, change it up!
Changing it up refers to the concept of muscle confusion, and if done with proper timing (meaning don’t change it up to fast, but altering angles and exercises, reps and weight not only will keep you growing and burning, it will keep your mind fresh and you’ll stay motivated) it will make all the difference.
You can’t win unless you’re in the game, so get up off the bench, and if today is the day, well look at it this way, it is Summer time, but more importantly, IT’S THE RIGHT TIME, don’t let another day or season pass you by to make the switch to the Team4orce Lifestyle and a better you!
