Coach Manny and I have been scouting out the new summer gear from a few of our favorite brands. We posted up a few pieces we are feeling at the moment.

FIRST STRING

BENNY GOLD BULLDOG SNAP BACK

Inspired by the classic John Thompson Georgetown Hoyas, or maybe his son’s more recent teams, war J.T. Triple Sticks (John Thompson III) w/a detailed and creative twist like only Benny Gold can do, this hat is getting most of the reps at the point guard in our hat rotation.

UNDEAFEATED SUMMER LEAGUE TANK TOP

Remember summer league basketball in high school? This tank concept is so fresh, and way better quality then your ghetto college intramural mesh or bunk cotton summer uni! Cop this right now at UNDEFEATED

Sixth Man Award

MISHKA’S PAST-TIME SNAP BACK

Mishka comes correct with their interpretation of the boys of summer and America’s favorite pastime, MLB inspired snapper. A little over the top, maybe, or it might be the closer you bring in for the 9th inning to shut it down.

The Reebok CrossFit SoCal Regionals will take place this weekend, so we thought we’d breakdown some film and get a good game plan going. Team4orce would like to give a chest bump and shout to the athletes and teams we know representing in the events; Brick, North Pasadena and The Energy Lab, it’s go time folks…Give them the business out there

So last friday we took a trip to the Ontario, California to watch the whole F’N show and the rest of of the TNA wrestlers. I was super excited to see that TNA booked RVD last minute. I got into ECW back in 1997 when a friend of mine gave me a vhs recording of Barely Legal. Rob Van Dam was one of my favorite wrestlers from back in the day. He had so many great acrobatic signature moves it was hard not to watch his matches. Another wrestler thats was also performing that night  was Kurt Angle. The whole card was very entertaining, there was never a dull moment the whole entire night. I will be defiantly be going back next time they are in town. Check out the pictures below and the video  RVD’s entrance with a live band playing his entrance music.

TNA Tag Team Champions Samoa Joe and Magnus vs Christopher Daniels and Kazarian.

Jeff Hardy vs Kurt Angle.

This weekend was an eventful one for Team4orce. Friday morning we were sadly found recalling our favorite Beastie Boy songs, after being informed that hip hop legend Adam Yauch aka MCA died at age 47 after a three-year fight with cancer, R.I.P.

Check the Link For 10 Awesome Adam Yauch Rhymes: Beastie Boy MCA’s Best Lyrics. Link

Saturday we attended the first home playoff game since 2006 for the Los Angeles Clippers. Shout to Fat Mike and Big Al and the Clippers free throw shooting for making it eventful

Then Floyd Mayweather did what he always does, but not without a fight from Miguel Cotto

Sunday we watched the Los Angeles Kings steal the show on the west coast as they completed a sweep of the St. Louis Blues, recording their first playoff sweep in a seven-game series, and making NHL history by becoming the first No. 8 seed to beat both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.

Then we hit the one of our favorite spots to dig up fresh forgotten treasures…

We were reminded of our passion for music, vinyl, our humble beginning, analog came before electronica and starting over (coach Mike aka dj argyle has sold most of his record collection the past few years)…

The Masters of the universe had the original BOX cross fitters, it was a tin lunch box and He-Man ran things on both coasts!

Mr. T was one of the original gym rat, man’s man, boxer (Clubber Lang), street fighter, bodybuilder. Why isn’t there a benchmark Crossfit workout named after him?

Isometric (exercise involving the static contraction of a muscle without any visible movement in the angle of the joint) was the thing to do back in the day, like Zumba is today?

Then the Lakers got a win to go up 3-1 against the mighty Spurs…errr…that was Denver they struggled against? Playoff’s…#man’s game!!!!

So after all this action, you know going into this week of training we’re going to have to remember to stretch. This is definitely a topic that coach Mike has become a huge advocate of, and we wanted to share this article that breaks down some self-help in this area. Note the roller their using is the rumble roller, an amazing piece of equipment you should invest in.

Words from the Coach

This past Sunday, I (Michael Avelar or Coach Mike as they call me) had the pleasure of being in the audience for a historical memorial dedication for East L.A. baseball icon Manuel “Shorty” Perez and for the book release and signing of “Mexican American Baseball in Los Angeles”. I must say that the event was an outstanding display of historical genius, the unearthing of a real baseball gem in our own Team4orce backyard. Kudos to event organizers and the Latino Baseball History Project, for putting together a successful event with an amazing overall vibe where a sense of community was omnipresent. I felt honored to learn about one of these great historical and storied sports teams, the Chorizeros. Its important to note, that without the help of organizations like the Baseball Reliquary and the Latino Baseball History Project, these teams and players would never see the light of recognition past their last days lacing up the cleats.

The book signing was quaint and very intimate, but by my eyes it was not to be out done by the nostalgic manger’s jackets and of course the marquee Carmelita Chorizo logo on the classic snap back baseball hat, which was on full display in all its glory (I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these bad boys!). After speaking with the Team4orce’s offensive coordinator and playmaker-supreme Manny P., we have decided to explore the logos and team mascots of the Mexican Baseball Leagues and other legendary local Los Angeles Teams. We will be scouting for unique and dusty stories as we pay tribute to the Squads that came before Team4orce.

Thank You Coach Manuel “Shorty” Perez, we tip our Team4orce Cap to you and the Chorizeros, may your legacy in the inner-city diamonds of East Los Angeles and of greater Southern California be passed on to many generations to come.

East Los Angeles Baseball History

As manager of the Carmelita Chorizeros semi-professional team for 35 years, Shorty Perez was an East L.A. baseball icon from 1947 until his death in 1981. With the assistance of Carmelita owner Mario Lopez, Sr., he built the Chorizeros into one of the greatest semi-pro baseball teams in So CA history, and winners of numerous L.A. Municipal League championships. Among the stars that played for Shorty were Ernie Sierra, Armando Perez, Richie Pena, Babe Ornelas, Chilo Herrera, and ex-Dodger Willie Davis.  “Mexican American Baseball in Los Angeles” is the first book to document the extraordinary history of amateur, semi-professional, and professional baseball in the Mexican American communities of Los Angeles.

This past weekend Team4orce visited the Fit Expo and we all agree that it was an excellent experience and we were overwhelmed by peoples excitement when the saw Kay B. Strong. Our young team mascot’s first public appearance was a touchdown w/the 2point conversion!  We never imagined we would have people of all ages running up to him to ask for a photograph; and if you any of you guys took pictures with your cameras please email them to us at info@team4orce.com.

Please take the time to do 2 things for the team:

1.) Add Kay B. Strong as a face book friend.

2.) If you haven’t already, make sure to check our face book page to tag yourself in a photo or just become a fan of Team4orce.

The expo itself was better then ever this year, with companies like bodybuilding.com commanding Disneyland type lines and all the strong brands out in force it was a solid yet exhausting experience. As we cruised through the isles we were able to find some items we felt that fit with the Team4orce Lifestyle and had us buzzing here in the 4orce locker room.

GYST TRANSITION BAGS

I own tons of gym bags, all brands, all colors and all sizes, but I found this bag to be in a league of its own. I featured a flap that acted as a mat to put your feet on while you changed out of your clothes to your gym gear. It had tons of room and it was quite stylish.

DOUBLE PRO 100 SHAKER CUP

I know I know, another shaker cup to clean, well this one shaker did the job of 2 or 3 different shakers. It came equipped with a chamber on top and a chamber at the bottom for pre and post workout powder, and its brother the shaker pro 100 BEAST, which is the world’s biggest shaker cup (10oz of powder and 40oz of water)

EZ JUMPER

Sometimes when I don’t have a jump rope I’ll just mimick the motion and get my heart rate up, well this product takes this concept to the next step. It is the jump rope that doesn’t connect, giving you the unilateral workout without the inconsistency and worries of getting up over the rope each time (because its not an actual rope and it doesn’t’ connect), please check the website to see for yourself its truly a great workout device!

ULTIMATE SANDBAG

I saw this product right away and thought, what a physical challenge this product must provide, I have to have one. Much like a kettle bell (we are a bit partial to those of course) this sandbag provides an alternative to overall strength and conditioning, core training (w/over 300 exercise variations) and is just a worthwhile investment.
